Communication

Internet

There is a strong increase in usage of the Internet and Internet applications in The Netherlands. At this moment over 4.7 million people, one third of the population, have their own Internet connection. Approximately half of the total population have access to the Internet, either at home or at work. These percentages are increasing every month. The increasing availability of Internet applications plays an important part when it comes to the growth of Internet usage.
Strong competition between cable network operators and Internet providers continue to put the cost price under pressure. The Dutch can thus communicate with the rest of the world for a relatively low price and they enjoy doing so.
